![]() The Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund is hosting a meeting of civic, funding and arts leaders to talk with Russell Willis Taylor, President and CEO of National Arts Strategies (NAS) to discuss the possibility of an arts leadership development program in Atlanta. According to their usual practice, NAS would like to meet first with small groups to talk about the specific needs of the region for such a program, and whether or not an NAS program is the best way to move forward at this time. National Arts Strategies was founded over 20 years ago by the Ford, Rockefeller, and Mellon Foundations to help strengthen communities of arts organizations and help bring new approaches into our field. Today, their core program is leadership education for the arts and culture sector. NAS works with faculty from the top business and graduate schools in the United States to develop and teach seminars tailored specifically to the arts and culture community, where arts executives can explore together the toughest challenges facing organizations today. Their seminars have been presented to over 2000 executives, board members, and staff from over 500 arts and cultural organizations in the United States and Australia. All NAS programs are designed to help fuel the conversation among arts executives, board members, and funders, and are founded on the belief that investment in arts leaders is the key to a vibrant, sustainable arts community.
